Weather

Current forecast

The temperature in Oslo during the month of June is could be anywhere between 15-30 degrees (Celcius) (70-90 Fahrenheit). The weather is generally sunny and pleasant, but rain is possible. Visitors hoping to see some of the region during their visit would be advised to bring clothing for hot or cold weather. Almost anything can happen, but in all probability one can expect sunshine and temperate conditions.

The 21st June is the summer solstice, and the 23rd June is traditionally regarded as being the longest day, on which bonfires are traditionally lit all over Scandinavia. During this time, there are about 20 hours of daylight in Oslo, depending on the cloud-cover.

There is no midnight sun in Oslo (south of the arctic circle), but visitors can easily arrange a trip either by boat or by train to the North of Norway to experience this phenomenon.

Do not be misled into thinking that the Northern latitude or even occasionally cool temperatures means that the sun is weaker in Oslo. Make sure you use adequate protection from the sun. The micro-climate often results in few clouds and little atmospheric absorption. In addition, the northern polar ozone fluctuates leaving less atmospheric protection at higher latitudes. Visitors should protect themselves with sun-block just as if they were in Mediterranean Europe.
