Location of Jacobs University
Jacobs University is located in the Northern part of Bremen,
about 20km from the city center. Trains connect this part of
Bremen with the centre and run every 30 minutes. The train
station closest campus is called "Bremen Schoenebeck". To use
the public transportation (including bus, tram and train), you
can purchase a combined ticket at the beginning of your ride
(price category II is needed if you go all the way from/to
downtown).
Traveling by train
The city of Bremen is well connected to the German and European
train system. Trains from Bremen's main station to North Bremen
(and vice versa) leave every 30 minutes; duration of the ride to
our destination is about 20 minutes. Take the train in the
direction of Vegesack and get off at Schoenebeck station. From
this station, you can do a short walk following the signs to the
campus.
Traveling by plane
There are direct flights to Airport Bremen from several European
cities, including major hubs such as Frankfurt, Paris, or
Amsterdam. Within Europe, Ryanair offers good connectivity to
Bremen at very affordable prices. Upon your arrival in Bremen,
take the streetcar (tram) number 6 (leaves in front of the
airport building) and get off at Bremen main station
(Hauptbahnhof). From there one takes the train to
Bremen-Vegesack as described above. Do not stay in the tram
number 6 even though it says destination "University" since the
tram will bring you to a different university.
As an alternative, you can simply take a taxi from the airport.
This is much simpler and faster (although travel time depends on
how busy the streets are). However, the taxi trip from the
airport to Jacobs University costs around 40 Euros. (Make sure
you tell the taxi driver that you want to Jacobs University
since we have more than one university in town.)
Traveling by car
The campus is easily reached from highway A27. Take the exit 16
and get onto B74/A270 heading toward Bremen Vegesack. Take the
exit marked "St. Magnus" and follow the signs to Jacobs
University.
